PROMOTION INFO
The more your promote your event, the better your chances are of having a successful turnout.
Once a show is booked you will need to send us a few things and let us know what you plan to do for your own promotion. Given the proper information, Varsity Theater will list you in the local papers, possibly give away tickets on the radio, list you on our website/weekly email, and display posters in the Loring Pasta Bar and at the theater.
WHERE TO START
- Make your own press release or press kit. Be sure to include Date, time, cost, any age restrictions, perfomance line-up and a synopsis of the event. The synopsis should be 1 paragraph, approximately 100 words or less. If you have a website or online articles/reviews we can link to please send those links over as well.
- Get some images. 2 will do. Most people provide a couple pictures or a picture & logo. Make sure is reproduceable. This means the photographer is okay with you using it and that it is high resolution (300dpi), yet small enough to email. (2mb) Images off the internet, though usable are not suitable for reproducing in print. (newspapers, posters, tickets, postcards)
- Network...it's free. You have friends, family, organizations, peers and fans that want to see you so let them know you will be performing. Simple things to do would be sending out emails, letting your blog friends/association friends/peers know.
- Produce posters & postcards at least a month before your show. This is optional, but will certainly help in the promotion of your event farther than the reaches of Dinkytown.
- Check the webcalendar in a few days to see that we have everything correct and be sure to email ASAP if you have revisions or corrections.
